Lupita Nyong’o is making her New York stage debut in an Off-Broadway play called “Eclipsed.”

The play will make its New York debut in a staging by the Public, the major Off Broadway non-profit that runs Shakespeare in the Park and launched the buzzmagnet musical “Hamilton.”

“Eclipsed” is set during the Liberian Civil War and follows a group of captive women who are the wives of a rebel officer when a new woman arrives. The play was written in 2009 by Danai Gurira and will be directed by Lisel Tommy. Tommy also directed the play at its world premiere at D.C.’s Woolly Mammoth Theater and New Haven’s Yale Rep in 2009.

Nyong’o’s fall debut on the stage will begin just ahead of the debut of her next film, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

It looks like there are many great things in store for Nyong’o, and we wish her the best of luck!
