'Django' actress finally 'sort-of' apologizes to LAPD for incident

theGRIO REPORT - 'Django Unchained' actress, Daniele Watts and her boyfriend were instructed to write letters apologizing to the LAPD....

Django Unchained actress Daniele Watts and her boyfriend, Brian Lucas, plead no contest to charges of disturbing the peace after earlier this year they were charged with having sex in the car.

As part of the plea deal, Watts and Lucas were instructed to write letters of apology both to the LAPD officers that Watts accused of racism and to the employees in the office building who called the cops when they reportedly saw Watts with her breasts exposed as she straddled her partner in the front seat of the car.

The letter written to the employees read: “We are truly sorry that our expression of love caused such a disturbance to your lives that you felt it was threatening enough to warrant police involvement.”

Watts, who is black, and Lucas, a raw foods chef who is white, said they’re glad they were arrested because it brought attention to interracial relationships and biased policing, TMZ reported.

“Looking on the brighter side, we do believe that the public discourse that surrounded our encounter was beneficial as it provided an opportunity for the public to discuss, and more deeply understand, the ‘taboo’ subject of interracial relationships,” the letter said.
