On Sunday night, a 15-year-old was shot and killed during a police-involved shooting.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident began when officers noticed a car that matched the description of a recently carjacked vehicle.

They followed the care a safe distance when it turned down a dead end, accelerated, and tried to do a U-turn. When officers attempted to stop the car, the driver rammed a police vehicle on the driver’s side. At that point, several passengers got out of the car and fled, but the driver refused to get out of the car.

The driver then turned the wheel toward officers and accelerated, at which point officers opened fire. The driver got out of the car, armed with a gun, and collapsed, according to a WISH-TV report

“Unfortunately nobody wins in this situation,” said IMPD Officer Chris Wilburn. “The officers are traumatized, and there’s going to be a subsequent investigation of course, and a family is going to get the very tragic news that their teenager is deceased.”

Although the police are looking for the other passengers, it is not an active search, and so the family of Andre Green has come forward to ask anyone with answers to help them.

“There was someone else in the car with him,” said Malonda Lamb, who said she is victim Andre Green’s cousin. “We don’t know who else was in the car with him, but we’re asking you, could you please come forward? Because you saw. You saw something. You saw them shoot him, you saw them chase him, you saw something. Please come forward.”
