Anthony Horowitz, doesn’t think Idris Elba is suave enough to play James Bond. Which, as we all know, is perfect nonsense.
“Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better,” said Horowitz, who’s first Bond novel Trigger Mortis is published later this month. “For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too ‘street’ for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.”
While Horowitz is certainly entitled to his opinion, it would seem that thousands of people on the Internet, plus plenty in Hollywood, disagree with him. But maybe some people just can’t see how amazing Elba is.
