Tyra Banks embraces her current heavier size, slams fashion industry for wanting skinny models

Tyra Banks makes an appearance on 'Live! with Kelly and Michael' and says she loves her fuller-figured body...

Supermodel Tyra Banks feels a lot better at her current weight, and she believes she looks better, too.

During Tuesday’s appearance on Live with Kelly and Michael, Banks watched a clip from 20 years ago in 1995 and gasped at her appearance.

“Do you see how skinny I was?” she asked. “I was so skinny!”

Kelly Ripa was quick to jump in and say that she believes Banks “looks better now” and asked, “What’s the secret?”

“Some a**,” Banks said.

“I think it’s gaining weight,” she added. “I look like a different person now because I have more weight on my body and face.”

Banks then suggested that the fashion industry wants models to stay skinny because “maybe fabric costs more when you’ve got more a**” but then became more serious. “I really don’t think that’s what it is, I really think that designers just think clothes look better on somebody smaller. I disagree,” she said.

The positive comments about her own body come just months after Banks took to Instagram in a scathing rant against the current fashion industry. In her social media post, Banks noted that even in her heyday as a model, she was a healthy size six, and she blasted the unrealistic expectations of the current fashion trends.
