Sherri Shepherd's surrogate says the 'View' star betrayed her
Jessica Bartholomew thought that she was doing a good deed for a couple who wanted a family of their own. She had agreed to be a surrogate for Sherri Shepherd and her husband, Lamar Sally, because she believed that the two of them were so in love they were ready for children.
Jessica Bartholomew thought that she was doing a good deed for a couple who wanted a family of their own. She had agreed to be a surrogate for Sherri Shepherd and her husband, Lamar Sally, because she believed that the two of them were so in love they were ready for children.
Instead, Shepherd said she wanted nothing to do with the child, Lamar Jr., who is now one year old, and Bartholomew was left in the lurch. Now, Bartholomew has declared not only that Shepherd has abandoned her but that she has abandoned her own child. Angry, the surrogate mother said, “I will never help another mother have a baby.”
“Sherri put me and my family through so much emotionally and almost ruined me financially so I will never trust anyone to go through that again,” Bartholomew said. “I wanted to help her because she couldn’t have a child of her own and it was supposed to be a beautiful thing. But it turned out to be a nightmare.”
The worst part is that Bartholomew knows how this is supposed to go. She was a surrogate for twins for a couple who could not have children, and she absolutely loved the experience. But now, she feels nothing but betrayed.
“I couldn’t believe it. Sherri knew I was a waitress and a single mother but she didn’t care, she just walked away and let them demand support from me when she was the one who wanted this child. I was helping her and this is how she repaid me. I will never, ever go through this again.”
Still, Bartholomew says she wants nothing but the best for the baby.
“But in spite of everything I hope it all works out for Lamar and the baby and I hope Sherri realizes what she has done and becomes a real parent to LJ. One day he is going to be an adult and may ask Sherri why she didn’t want to be his mother.”
