Fifteen months after he was in a car crash that left him in a coma, Tracy Morgan took the stage at this year’s Emmy Awards to make his triumphant return.

“Thank you,” a tearful Morgan said on Sunday night. “Thank you so much. I missed you guys so much.”

Last year, Morgan had been unable to attend the awards, following a fatal car accident that left him in critical condition. Some questioned whether Morgan would ever return to the stage, but last night, Morgan walked out to announced the winner for Best Drama (Game of Thrones), and he was met with a standing ovation.

“Last year, Jimmy Kimmel said on this stage, ‘We’ll see you back here on this stage, Tracy Morgan,'” Morgan said. “Well, Jimmy, thanks to my amazing doctors and the support of my family, my beautiful new wife, I’m here, standing on my own two feet.”

“It’s been a long road back,” he said. “I suffered a traumatic brain injury that put me in a coma for eight days. When I finally regained consciousness, I was just ecstatic to learn that I wasn’t the one who messed up.”

“Only recently I’ve started to feel like myself again, which means that a whole lot of y’all women are going to get pregnant at the after-party,” he also joked. “That’s what’s going down.”

His Emmys appearance is just the start of Morgan’s comeback. The comedian is set to host SNL Oct. 17.

Welcome back, Tracy Morgan!
