Police say Missouri teen shot himself, witnesses claim police shot him

On Wednesday, Missouri police near Ferguson were called to the scene where they say a suicidal man shot himself after exchanging gunfire with the officers.

On Wednesday, Missouri police near Ferguson were called to the scene where they say a suicidal 18-year-old shot himself after exchanging gunfire with the officers.

KMOV reports, Normandy police had briefly chased after the teen after an exchange of gunfire, and according to their report, they lost sight of him when they heard one last gunshot.

“As officers turned the corner, they observed the unresponsive male lying on the ground and rendered first aid. The male was transported to an area hospital where his condition is listed as critical,” they stated in a release.

However, witnesses are disputing this version of events, saying it was the police who shot the 18-year-old. Since then, cell phone video footage has been released showing an emotional woman being carried away as she screams, “They shot my son!”

When asked who her son is, she replies, “The one you were shooting at!”

Additionally, a Twitter user has uploaded footage that she claims shows the incident from a distance, in which a woman can be heard shouting, “Don’t kill my baby!”

After a single pop is heard, a man can be heard screaming, “Don’t kill me. Oh god.”

The City of Ferguson’s Twitter has since issued a statement saying that the incident is being investigating but adding, “Despite rumors, Ferguson PD did not shoot a suspect.”
