Kandi Burruss on NeNe Leakes: 'When one person feels that they are bigger than the group, that's when it's a problem'

Kandi Burruss opens up about season 8 of 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta'...

Kandi Burruss is pregnant and fabulous this season on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Burruss is expected to deliver her second child, a son, with her husband, Todd Tucker, on January 6.

“We did have issues getting pregnant. That was something that I never thought I would have to deal with,” Burruss told theGrio. “Apparently, I have scar tissue from a previous fibroid surgery, and that was blocking the situation from happening. So we had to go through IVF treatments to get pregnant.”

Burruss opened up about the stigma of being a sugar momma, which she dealt with early on while dating Tucker.

“I always think it’s funny that you have to be a sugar momma because you make more than your man. In this day and age, a lot of women make more money than their male counterpart. Just because he doesn’t make as much money as you doesn’t mean that you’re making it rain on him,” Burruss said. “Todd is still the man in our relationship. He still does what he’s supposed to do as far as taking care of our family. I just had to stop worrying what people had to say about it.”

Season 8 is the first installment of The Real Housewives of Atlanta without one of the show’s most successful alums, NeNe Leakes, appearing as a full-time cast member.

Burruss believes the show will still be successful without Leakes.

“The group as a whole is what makes the show. Not one person. That’s why it’s an ensemble cast,” she said. “A lot of people… the ones that are mainly just [NeNe’s] fans, they don’t get that. I’m not trying to say that she’s not good on the show, I’m just saying that she’s better with the show. At the end of the day, if it was just about her by herself, her numbers when she had her own shows would be bigger than the Housewives, and they weren’t. It’s because we as a group together are good… when one person feels that they are bigger than the group, that’s when it’s a problem.”

Tune in for an all-new episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Sunday at 8/7c on Bravo.
