Gwinnett County Police said that Sheldon Soyer shot his wife, Vanessa Soyer, in their apartment. He fled on foot after shooting his wife, prompting a lockdown of Georgia Gwinnett College close by.

Police were closing down the area when the Soyers’ 13-year-old son ran out of the apartment and approached Fatimah Howard.

“He said, ‘Ms. Fatimah he did it in front of me,’” Howard said. “Those were his words: ‘He did it in front of me.’”

As of Monday night, Sheldon Soyer was still on the run.
