WILTON, Iowa (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson says he can learn foreign policy, and notes his ability to adapt to changing medical practices as proof.

Campaigning in Iowa Sunday, the retired neurosurgeon also stood by his support for monitoring groups practicing “things that were anti-American.”
He says anybody with “normal intellect” knows exactly what I’m saying.
Carson, doing well in national and early voting state GOP polls, has been accused of not having a thorough understanding of international affairs.
The retired neurosurgeon likened his capacity to learn foreign policy to the continuing medical education physicians are required to follow.
To about 400 Republican activists in eastern Iowa, he says it doesn’t matter what people think because he would work with “very talented people” and is “willing to continually update our knowledge.”
