We got our first look at American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson Wednesday, and it looks like it’s going to be intense.

The trailer shows Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J. Simpson during the infamous car chase that was nationally televised. Gooding can be seen cowering in the back of the car and saying, “I deserve to get hurt,” reports Entertainment Tonight.

The trailer also shows David Schwimmer, who plays Robert Kardashian, as he struggles with the decision to defend Simpson. Kardashian and his then-recent-ex-wife Kris had been friends with both Simpson and his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson.

“He’s my friend,” Kardashian says in the trailer. “I don’t turn my back on people.”

“You’re turning your back on Nicole!” Kris replies.

Kris is then seen talking with her friend, Faye Resnick, and asking Resnick if she thinks Simpson is guilty.

“She was terrified of him,” Resnick replies.

The series not only tells the story of the trial and the people involved but also tackles the racial issues involved in the now-infamous case that gripped national attention.

“You want to make this a black thing,” Gooding says as Simpson during the trailer. “Well, I’m not black. I’m O.J.”

The series will premiere on February 2 on FX.
