Ava DuVernay Barbie sells out in minutes

Mattel recently announced that their limited-edition Barbie doll, made in the likeness of director Ava DuVernay, would be mass produced and made available to the public.

The dolls went on sale earlier this morning, and they’ve already sold out. In fact, it only took a matter of 20 minutes for the Barbies to sell out completely.

“Sold out on Barbie collection, I’m told,” DuVernay tweeted. “What the hell is going on? #bananas #nuts #whoa.”

If you missed your shot to get the Barbie the first time around, though, don’t worry: they will be available for purchase from Amazon on Monday afternoon.
