According to E! News, Latifah will star in the series, which focuses on the music industry through the eyes of an aspiring girl group, as Carlotta, an Atlanta woman with a beautiful voice and a beauty salon.
Carlotta becomes something of a surrogate mother to the three girls who make up the group as they chase their dreams in the music industry.
The project, which is currently titled Star, will tackle not only stories of the cutthroat industry but also cultural themes and perspectives.
