Former NFL running back Marcus Lattimore gave back to South Carolina flood victims by taking children on a holiday shopping spree.
The former South Carolina standout said he was distraught after seeing the devastated communities after the October storm. Lattimore and his non-profit foundation, Marcus Lattimore Foundation/DREAMS, decided to help out those who lost the most and took 25 children, ages 8 to 18, on a shopping spree.
“I just wanted to bring awareness to what’s really going on in Georgetown County,” Lattimore told WMBF.
Each child received shoes from Under Armor, a $120 Walmart gift card to purchase anything they wanted, and a gift bag from Walmart.
“It’s still amazing to me, the impact that I do have,” said Lattimore. “It’s something that I don’t take lightly at all. I don’t take it for granted, and every opportunity I have to meet a kid that looks up to me in any kind of way, I’m going to take that opportunity because I know it’s going to help them.”
