ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) — A fraternity says it is continuing to cooperate with authorities investigating the death of a former Penn State-Altoona student who committed suicide last year.
The family of Marquise Braham has filed suit against the university and a suspended fraternity chapter alleging that his death stemmed from hazing.
The suit alleges Braham “had been hazed for months” at Phi Sigma Kappa before jumping off the roof of a New York hotel in March 2014.

The suit alleges that he was forced to “consume gross amounts of alcohol,” fight fellow pledges and had a gun held to his head, and he later “struggled deeply” with having to take part in hazing other pledges.

A statement from the fraternity’s international headquarters in Indianapolis said the allegations, if proven to be true, would be “in direct violation of the fraternity’s standards and expectations as well as its express anti-hazing policies.”
A Penn State representative declined comment.
