Correction counselor caught having romantic relationship with inmate

A New York State Department of Corrections employee was arrested for having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate, authorities said on Tuesday.

A New York State Department of Corrections employee was arrested for having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate, authorities said on Tuesday.

The employee, Azizah McEntire, faces official misconduct charges after a relationship allegedly blossomed at the Wyoming Correction Facility in Attica, New York.

In addition to having a romantic relationship with the inmate, McEntire also allegedly gave him money, packages and personal items, according to an investigation by the Department of Corrections Office of Special Investigation.

After she was arrested, McEntire was released on Thursday and is expected to be in court in the next few weeks.

The name of the inmate with which McEntire allegedly had the relationship was not released.
