Tyler Perry, Viola Davis, Cece Winans, pay homage to Cicely Tyson during 'Kennedy Center Honors'

Last night, CBS aired the Kennedy Center Honors, where stars gathered to pay homage to some of the legends of the stage and screen.

Cicely Tyson, Seiji Ozawa, Rita Moreno, Carole King and George Lucas received honors during what many describe as one of TV’s classiest broadcasts, taped at the prestigious Kennedy Center earlier this month.

Arguably the most touching moment of the star-studded tribute for 91-year-old Tyson.

Tyler Perry presented and narrated a moving package chronicling Tyson’s career on TV, film and Broadway.

Viola Davis and Kerry Washington took to the stage to acknowledge Tyson’s impact on their acting careers.

Then Gospel legend Cece Winans brought down the house with her rendition of the spiritual “Blessed Assurance.”
