Jamie Hector joins Tupac Biopic ‘All Eyez On Me’

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Jamie Hector has been cast to play Tupac’s stepfather, Mutulu Shakur, in the upcoming biopic All Eyez On Me.

According to Variety, the biopic, which shows the life and death of the hip-hop star Tupac, will also touch on Shakur’s story, as he was married to Afeni Shakur (Gurira), who was targeted by the FBI as a political activist and Black Panthers member and was jailed for conspiracy to aid in a bank robbery.

The actor is widely known for his role as Marlo Stanfield on the critically acclaimed HBO series The Wire.

Hector joins the star-studded cast with the likes of Danai Gurira, Kat Graham and Demetrius Shipp Jr. (with Shipp playing the rapper himself) as the project, headed by Benny Boom, surges forward to try to trade on the success of another hip-hop biopic, Straight Outta Compton.
