A Texas woman tracked down her husband’s dead body, which had been dumped on the side of the road, by using the Find My iPhone app after she became worried about him.
Carla Melendez said that she accessed the app when she became worried about her husband, Ramira Acosta, who had not returned home. The app told her that her husband’s phone had stopped moving at a spot about 30 minutes from their home, and she drove out to the spot to investigate.
“It showed trees and it was weird because why would his phone be by trees? It was there for a while,” Melendez told ABC 13.
When she arrived at the location, she found her husband’s body by the side of the road.
“I just wanted him to wake up, but lord knows how long he had been laying there,” she said.
Melendez later told police that her husband had gone out with friends in order to do a “lick,” which is a robbery for drugs. When investigators tracked down his friends, they discovered that he had been shot by accident. Tristain J Porter, one of Acosta’s friends, was then arrested for murder after he reportedly told police that a scuffle broke out and he accidentally shot his friend.
