In the latest wrinkle in the Bill Cosby case, lawyer Monique Pressley is under fire in a new court filing that claims she did not have the legal standing to represent Cosby’s wife, Camille Cosby, during her deposition on February 22.

“Ms. Pressley has been engaged in the unauthorized practice of law on behalf of Camille Cosby in this action,” wrote attorney Joseph Cammarata, who is representing seven women suing Cosby for defamation, in a motion asking that Pressley be prevented from representing anyone on the case. “Ms. Pressley never entered an appearance on behalf of Mrs. Cosby, nor did she take steps to properly represent Mrs. Cosby in this action.”

Cammarata said that he learned Pressley was not legally authorized to represent Camille Cosby after the deposition, on March 8, 2016. Apparently, Pressley had only filed paperwork to represent Camille Cosby in Massachusetts but “stated on the record that she was representing Mrs. Cosby” during the deposition.

Is it okay to admire Bill Cosby’s lawyer Monique Pressley?

“Ms. Pressley’s decision to purportedly represent Mrs. Cosby in this action was intentional or inexcusably negligent at best,” the motion reads.

What’s more, Cammarata is calling for Pressley not to be allowed to file her paperwork for representing Camille Cosby now, three months too late, and is in fact calling for her to be removed from the case in Massachusetts.
