STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) — An Atlanta-area high school is moving its prom to another site after parents raised concerns about a “pro-white” rally and possible counter-protest scheduled the same day at Stone Mountain Park where the prom was to be held.

WSB-TV reports that Peachtree Ridge High School Principal Jeff Matthews sent a note to parents, saying officials understood their concerns.

Matthews said the dance will still be held April 23, but will be moved to the Westin Buckhead Atlanta hotel.

Last week, school officials assured parents that their students would be safe at the prom’s original location, saying they didn’t anticipate any problems.

WSB reports that a pro-white group known as “Rock Stone Mountain” plans to rally at the park, and a group called “All Out Atlanta” is encouraging a counter-demonstration.
