Retired federal prosecutor Lillian McEwen said that she dated Thomas for seven years, before he was married, and now, at 70 years old, she is spilling some of the more lurid details of their time together.

“We had a relationship that included threesomes,” McEwen said. “He recruited women that he worked with for participation in those threesomes.”

McEwen’s allegations come ahead of Confirmation, which focuses on the 1991 confirmation hearings for Clarence Thomas in which Anita Hill brought charges of sexual harassment against the then nominee to the Supreme Court. The confirmation hearings opened up a national conversation not only about race but about sexual harassment.

McEwen said that she believed Hill was “a woman scorned,” saying of the confirmation hearings, “She didn’t tell the truth and he didn’t tell the truth either.”

As for Hill, she has come to terms with her role in history, telling Today earlier this week, “I think what we have to do though, is to understand why my testimony and my experience — why that was so important to the integrity of the court, and why it spoke directly to the character of the nominee at the time.”
