Trying to capitalize on the popular lyrical phrase “Becky with the good hair,” two white staffers wrote up an article called, “Things you only know if you’re called Becky and have good hair.”

The entire article is made up of gifs and gimmicks about hair and is written by two staffers who are actually both named Becky and claim to have excellent hair.

But the use of off-key gifs like one of Justin Bieber petting Esperanza Spaudling‘s afro showed what some considered to be willful ignorance.  Social media users quickly fired back at the article and corresponding tweet.

Glamour first removed the tweet promoting their article before removing the article itself and have since issued this apology: “We’re really sorry for the offence caused – not just for getting shouted at, but because we have missed a big chunk of what Becky meant.”
