Illness prevents Serena Williams from participating in Madrid Open

MADRID (AP) — Serena Williams will miss the Madrid Open because of illness.
The tournament says Williams won’t be able to play at the tournament that starts this weekend because of a fever that has left her feeling “less than 100 percent.”

Williams won the Madrid Open in 2012 and 2013.
Agnieszka Radwanska will take William’s place as the top-seeded player.
