Prince’s self-proclaimed niece and grand-niece want “their share” of his fortune

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

The daughter and granddaughter of Duane Nelson, Prince’s half-brother, are coming forward to request their “share” of Prince’s fortune following his untimely passing.

Brianna Nelson and Victoria Nelson were not listed among family members when Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson filed the probate case in April, but their lawyer, Andrew Stoltman, said that it was likely just an oversight that Duane was not listed as a brother.

“It could have just been an oversight. I’m not reading nefarious intent into it,” Stoltmann told the Daily News.

He went on to say that Brianna and Victoria were entitled to their share of the fortune that Prince left behind. “They’re entitled to their share, and we’re assuming it’s going to be an amicable process,” the lawyer said.

There were rumors that Duane was not actually a blood relative of Prince and that while he was raised as a half-brother, he found out in his teen years that he was not actually biologically related to Prince’s father. However, Stoltman denied those claims, saying, “That’s not true. He’s a blood relative.”

It is unclear whether or not a DNA test will be ordered in order to test the veracity of the Nelsons’ claims. “Whatever the judge decides,” Stoltman said.
