Legendary boxer, activist and sports icon Muhammad Ali has died. He was 74.
A family spokesperson confirmed the news to multiple outlets, including CNN and NBC News. The Miami Marlins baseball team announced Ali’s death late Friday night during a game, even before the family and news outlets had made it public.
Ali was hospitalized Thursday in Phoenix, Arizona. The former heavyweight champion was battling respiratory issues complicated by his longtime bout with Parkinson’s disease, according to an Associated Press report.
