‘Today’ show stylist roasted for ruining black woman’s hair live on-air

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Talk about a styling trainwreck.

Thursday, the Today show had hair-beauty expert Deepica Mutyala on to give trendy hair style tutorials in one minute or less.

The concept was all good until Mutyala got to the black model. We’re not sure how to even describe what happened next:

The model was all smiles as she waited for her turn for the 60-second hairstyle.

But when Mutyala got to her, she completely messed up her original look and kind of just crushed it into some sort of side ponytail.

To make it worse, she was struggling to put the model’s hair in the ponytail then proceeded to leave her front out for a “bang” effect. The idea was clearly going south, but she continued to mess it up more by combing out the model’s bangs and leaving what looks like a bird’s nest on the front of her hair.

Today anchor Savannah Guthrie may have subtly acknowledged the on-air disaster when she quipped that “it helps” that the model was “gorgeous.”
