George Zimmerman punched in the face for “bragging about killing Trayvon”
George Zimmerman was assaulted by a man at a restaurant who punched him in the face after hearing him brag about having killed Trayvon Martin.
According to witnesses, the incident began when Zimmerman introduced himself with the story of how he had killed the unarmed Martin, saying, “I love your tattoos. My name is George Zimmerman, you know, that guy who killed Trayvon Martin?” as he showed his ID.
Zimmerman said that he was talking to others in the restaurant about the Martin case when the man approached and demanded, “You’re bragging about that?” before punching him in the face.
Zimmerman and a friend called 911 after the assault, and Zimmerman told the dispatcher, “He recognized me. He told me he was going to kill me he told me he’d (expletive) shoot me and he punched me in the face.”
“He said he’s going to kill me. You need to send like three or four cops,” Zimmerman later said in the phone call.
The man who punched Zimmerman, who has not been identified, could face charges. This story broke on the same days that news that Dylann Roof, the shooter in the Charleston church massacre, was assaulted in a prison shower.
