Nike declares Serena Williams is the ‘greatest athlete ever’
Nike has a new ad out featuring Serena Williams, in which they are calling her the “greatest athlete ever,” female or otherwise.
The ad, called Unlimited Greatness, is a 60-second spot that shows her journey from childhood to her dominance in the world of tennis, and it doesn’t take gender into account when it calls her the “greatest athlete ever.”
“From Compton’s courts to the world stage. This is the story of the greatest athlete ever,” Nike said of Williams.

For reference, this was probably a response to a Wimbledon press conference in which Williams was asked how she felt about being one of the “greatest female athletes of all time.”
“I prefer the word ‘one of the greatest athletes of all time,’” Williams replied at the time.
