Prominent Ferguson activist found dead in burning car
On Tuesday morning, a prominent activist in Ferguson, Missouri, was found dead inside a burning car.
Daren Seals, who rose to fame for his activist work following the 2014 shooting of Michael Brown, was discovered dead when crews were called to the site of a burning car. His body was found after the flames were put out, and upon further examination, it was determined that Seals had been shot, and police are treating the investigation as a homicide.
Thus far, police have not yet identified any suspects in Seals’ death, though the investigation is an ongoing one.

Seals reportedly arrived on the scene at the time of Brown’s death to see his body lying in the street, and he has commented on the case as well as contributing to the ongoing conversation about police brutality and Black Lives Matter, rising to prominence in recent years.
Following the reports of his death, friends and fellow activists took to social media to mourn his passing.
