David Simon, the creator of the hit show “The Wire,” has come under fire for using the N-word.

Simon took to Twitter to mock Sean Hannity as the choice for the host of the upcoming town hall in which Donald Trump is supposed to be addressing African-American issues on Wednesday.

“Hannity my n—a!,” Simon wrote .“If they couldn’t get Ta-Nehisi or Deray to host, then who but you on the pulse of black America?”

When Twitter was quick to drag Simon for his word choice, with one Twitter user admonishing him, “you know better,” Simon tried to defend himself:

“To the hall monitors: Use of N-word (with an A) DIRECTLY mocks the misuse of a white Fox interlocutor to address black issues. I’ll play it,” he wrote.

But Twitter still wasn’t having it.

“I read your subsequent tweets explaining what you attempted to do here….” one user replied. “But NO. Hell nah.”
