Nebraska’s Michael Rose-Ivey told he should be lynched for anthem protest
While defending his decision to protest the national anthem during a press conference, Michael Rose-Ivey reveals he and his teammates were threatened.
Michael Rose-Ivey, Mohamed Barry, and DaiShon Neal decided to kneel during the national anthem, but the backlash against the Nebraska players has been heated and racist, as Rose-Ivey said in comments defending his decision to protest.
“I was still referred on Facebook and Twitter as a ‘clueless, confused ni**er’ by former high school classmates, friends, peers, and even Huskers fans. Some believe DaiShon, Mohamed, and myself should be kicked off the team or suspended, while some say we should be lynched or shot just like the other black people that have died recently,” he said.
“Another believed that since we didn’t want to stand for anthem, that we should be hung before the anthem before the next game. These are actual statements we received from fans.”
