Howard University to rename School of Communications after Cathy Hughes
For its 45th anniversary, the Howard University School of Communications will also be getting a new name: the Cathy Hughes School of Communications.

The Howard University School of Communications just celebrated its 45th anniversary, and amid rumors that the school will be adding a new building, it seems the school will also be getting a new name: the Cathy Hughes School of Communications.
According to Radio One’s WOL News Talk 1450 AM, the school will hold a naming ceremony on Oct. 23 following the conclusion of the Howard Homecoming’s #ExperienceBlueprint.
Hughes, who has served as the chairperson of the board and secretary of Radio One since 1990 and was formerly the chief executive officer of the largest black-owned broadcasting company in the country, reportedly also donated $4 million to the university.
The university itself has not made an official announcement concerning the new name for the school.
