Chris Rock signs historic $40M deal with Netflix
After an eight-year absence from the business, Chris Rock is returning to stand-up comedy with a historic deal with Netflix...
Chris Rock is returning to stand-up comedy in a major way.
According The Hollywood Reporter, Rock will reportedly earn $40 million to deliver two specials for Netflix.
“Chris Rock is a beloved actor and director, and his remarkable stand-up makes him comic royalty,” said Ted Sarandos, the company’s chief content officer. “There is no one like him, and Netflix offers the global platform and creative freedom that will serve as a perfect home for someone with his incredible talent.
Rock, who hosted the Oscars earlier this year, hasn’t performed stand-up since 2008’s Kill The Messenger special on HBO.
“I’m very excited to be working with Ted and Lisa and all the good people at Netflix,” Rock said, according to the THR report. “I can’t wait to get back on stage.”
