An Ohio man filmed the moment he had to tell his 8-year-old son that his mother had died as a result of a drug overdose, and he posted the video online as a lesson to other drug addicts.
“This is for any and every addict with children. Today I had to tell my 8 year old son that his mommy died from a drug overdose last night. Don’t let this disease have to make someone that your [sic] dead because of drugs,” Brenden Bickerstaff-Clark said when he posted the video to Facebook.
Bickerstaff-Clark can be seen sitting across from his son and his son’s grandmother as he says, “I’ve got something to tell you, okay? Mommy died last night. Okay?”

The little boy, Cameron, then asks, “What?”
“Mommy died last night. Okay?” Bickerstaff-Clark replied.
“What do you mean? My mom? How?” Cameron asked.
“From drugs. I’m so sorry,” Bickerstaff-Clark says before he walks around the picnic table to hug him.

Bickerstaff-Clark, himself a recovering heroin addict, said that his son did not know he was being filmed but that he made the decision to prevent other parents from having to go through the pain he experienced.
“Please share and maybe help save a child’s parents life,” he wrote.
