On Thursday, the mother of a 12-year-old who was sexually assaulted twice in one week by a group of boys at her charter school blasted school officials for failing to keep her daughter safe.
“I feel like my daughter is scarred for the rest of her life,” said Nicole Welcome.
“It’s disgusting for a parent to learn her daughter was almost raped inside a school building,” she added.

Welcome said that the school officials knew nothing about what was going on until the second attack, which took place in a basement stairwell. The second attack was reported by a custodian. Video footage was found of both incidents.
Four boys were arrested by the NYPD for the two attacks which took place at the Ocean Hill Collegiate Charter School. The boys, ages 12 to 14, all attend Mott Hall No. 4 Middle School, which meets in the same building as the charter school.
Welcome’s daughter has since been transferred to a different school.
