Maryland Uber driver accused of kidnapping intoxicated female passenger

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

A woman who blacked out at a bar was picked up by an Uber driver that drove her to a Maryland motel instead of taking her home.

Westagne Pierre, age 29, picked the woman up from a D.C. bar after her friends hailed the ride for her. He then drove 10 miles to a nearby motel.

Pierre was arrested on Thursday after police reviewed surveillance footage showing him carry the woman into a room. He then spent some time alone in the room with the woman before he left.

After leaving the woman at the motel, he went to a 7-Eleven, where he used her credit card.

Pierre is facing both kidnapping and assault charges, though police have not released just how the woman was assaulted.

According to Uber spokeswoman Brooke Anderson, “The driver has been banned from the app and we have been working closely with police to support the investigation.”
