As 2016 draws to a close, the President of the United States has declared his list of this year’s hottest MCs.

Calling in to SiriusXM’s “Sway in the Morning,” President Barack Obama told hosts Sway Calloway and Heather B just who he’s listening to these days.

“I think the young guys ― Kendrick [Lamar] and Chance [the Rapper] are doing amazing work. I love Drake and the girls [Malia and Sasha] love Drake, so he’s commercially just doing great and unbelievably talented,” he said.

“Jay Z is still the king ― you know, he’s got a track record. The same with Kanye. There’s a lot of talent out there, but what I look at who’s breaking new ground, Kendrick and Chance those guys are doing just amazing work, and they’re wonderful young men.”

Obama also went on to share his personal connection to Chance the Rapper. “Chance, I’ve known for years, because his dad was my state director when I was a senator in Illinois,” he said. “So I first met Chance when he was eight years old. And so, we’ve been family for a while.”
