A white University of Central Arkansas student drew backlash when he posted a picture of himself in his Halloween costume: he apparently decided to dress up as Bill Cosby, complete with blackface.

Brock Denton has since been expelled and his fraternity chapter suspended, and how he claims he is “scared for my life” over threats he has received because of the costume.

Denton posted a picture of the costume to Instagram, showing himself in blackface wearing a Cosby-style sweater as he stood with two other white students at the Halloween party for the campus’ Sigma Tau Gamma chapter, which was held on Friday. “It was a bold night,” he wrote in the caption of the post.

An investigation is now pending.

“This picture is highly offensive and repugnant, and this representation goes against all we, at UCA believe in and stand for,” university President Tom Courtway said in a statement.

Denton has since posted an apology to Instagram, writing, “I have been sent death threats, threats to burn my house down. I am scared for my life.”

“I am the farthest thing from discrimination (sic), as a matter of fact I fight for equality everyday, I’ve been writing a book for the past two years on what it really means to be a good person.”

He also blamed social media for stirring up a “corrupted society in regard to heated controversial topics such as this.”

“Please except my apology not because of me but because of the sake of this great nation (sic),” he wrote.
