Darius Washington left the ACT thinking that he hadn’t done that well, so when his scores came in, the 16-year-old was simply shocked when he got a perfect score, a 36.

His parents, Marish and Sonica Washington, are very proud, and his classmates said they aren’t surprised that he did so well.

“We are not surprised, but we are very proud,” said Neville Assistant Principal Whitney Martin.

Darius took the tests a few times to get that score, and his advice to other students preparing for college is not to stress too much over just one test, or they will burn out before they get there.

“Manage your time wisely because if you run out of time that directly affects your score. If you don’t get to questions, then you can’t answer them,” he said.

Congratulations, Darius!
