Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz and Mashonda are ‘Blended Family’ in new video

Alicia Keys latest single, “Blended Family (What You Do for Love),” has a newly released video to go along with it now, and in it, Keys shares some intimate family moments.

In the music video of the A$AP Rocky-featured song, she shares images of her husband, Swizz Beatz, sons Egypt and Genesis, Prince Nasir and Kasseem Dean Jr. from Swizz’s earlier marriage to Mashonda.

“My new song ‘Blended Family (What You Do For Love)’ is inspired by my family’s personal journey to cultivate deeper understanding, compassion, support and love,” Keys says. “To me, the word ‘family’ has no singular definition and the modern family is made up of all kinds of beautiful people of different walks of life willing to put love first.”

The relationship between the three adults began as strained, but they are in a good place now.

“Once you are willing to let go of those feelings, forgiving becomes easy,” Mashonda told ESSENCE. “It’s an evolution to know you can reach that point as a human being.”

“We had no real choice,” she said of setting a healthy environment for the whole family, especially the kids. “Having them involved means the world to me.”
