On Tuesday, 17-year-old Jamal Hinton was added to a group text with numbers that he was not familiar with talking about Thanksgiving plans.
Hinton had to ask who the people were, since he didn’t recognize the number, and as a response, he received a text reading: “Your grandma.”
Unsure and wondering if this really was his grandmother, Hinton asked her to send a selfie, and when he received it, he quickly saw that she was not, in fact, his grandmother. He sent back a selfie of himself. “You not my grandma,” he replied, though he couldn’t help but teasingly ask, “Can I still get a plate tho?”

She of course had the sweetest response, the kind only a grandma can provide: “Of course you can. That’s what grandma’s do… feed every one.”
As if that wasn’t cute enough, Hinton later found out where she lived and went to meet her face to face.
“She was really nice!” he told HuffPost. “A very funny, sweet lady.”
He added that he would, in fact, be going to Thanksgiving with her, and he will be bringing a pumpkin pie!
