Mike Pence booed at ‘Hamilton’, cast addresses him from stage

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

On Friday night, Mike Pence, the future vice president of the United States, went to go catch a performance of “Hamilton,” and upon his arrival, he was booed by the audience.

The internet, of course, loved the reaction, with several calling out Pence for going to Broadway when he is well-known for his homophobic views, including his support for conversion therapy in order to “cure” members of the LGBT community.

“You think can walk into a world renowned Broadway show, some performers being people u want to ‘convert’, & not get booed? Bye Mike Pence,” tweeted Chelsea Turner.

In addition to being booed by the audience, Pence was also directly addressed by the cast on the stage: “We are the diverse America that are alarmed and anxious that you and your administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. We hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us.”
