Woman knocked unconscious in Kroger for asking how to make a pie

A Mississippi woman claims that she was assaulted and knocked unconscious in the baking aisle of a Kroger grocery store when she asked another shopper if he knew how to make a pie.

Nia Jones was getting some last-minute Thanksgiving shopping done when she approached the man in the baking aisle to ask him about pie-making.

“It’s a question. It’s a simple question. ‘Do you know how to make a pie?’ You’re on the baking aisle of Kroger,” Jones said. She added that the man walked away shouting expletives before coming back.

“He shoved my friend and the other lady into the shelves,” she said. “And he turned around a sucker punched me.”

Jones claimed that the man then punched her three times in the face and once in the chest, knocking her unconscious. And yet, she said, no one at the Kroger store did anything.

“How did they let this happen?” Jones’ mother, Stacey Rochell, asked. “If there was already a scene that was created, a commotion created. It was loud. Why didn’t someone address the gentleman at the time?”

Kroger has since released a statement saying that they are “working with the Southaven Police Department during this ongoing investigation.”
