After 25 years together, Jesse Jackson Jr. is filing for divorce from his wife, Sandi Jackson.

According to the Cook County electronic court docket, Jesse filed a certificate of dissolution of marriage on Monday after beginning divorce proceedings in July when Sandi was still serving a prison term, which she finished in October.

Sandi and Jesse both pleaded guilty in August 2013 to various charges related to misusing congressional campaign funds after they diverted $750,000 from campaign funds and used the money for personal expenses from 2005 to 2012.

However, they were allowed to stagger their prison sentences so that at least one parent could stay with their children at a time while the other was in jail.

Jesse pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit false statements and mail and wire fraud, and Sandi pleaded guilty to filing a false federal income tax return.

Now, however, Jesse wants their son and daughter, both of whom are under the age of 18, to live only with him.

For Sandi’s part, she filed a motion to dismiss the case, citing “lack of subject matter jurisdiction.”

Their next hearing is scheduled for Jan. 4, 2017.
