In a series of tweets posted Tuesday afternoon, Kanye West explained why he met with President-elect Donald Trump following sharp criticism over the Trump Tower visit.

“I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues. These issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago,” West tweeted.

“I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change.”

The rapper added, “#2024.”

Neither Trump nor West divulged specifics about their meeting; however, Trump told the press that the pair had “discussed life.”
