“How To Get Away With Murder” star Viola Davis is finally getting a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
Hitting theaters on Christmas Day is her latest movie, Fences, starring Denzel Washington, who also directs the film.
The news of her getting a star was released Monday night by Hollywood Walk Of Fame producer Ana Martinez on Twitter. Davis will be the first actor to get a star in 2017.
In Fences, which is an August Wilson adaptation, Davis plays Rose, wife to Washington’s character, Troy Maxson. Maxson, bitter over not being able to play baseball, becomes a garbage man who takes out his resentment on his son. Viola plays a wife dedicated to her marriage but who struggles when it is revealed her husband has been cheating on her.
The movie has been getting rave reviews, and there is even talk that this movie will win Davis her first Academy Award.
The news about her getting her star on the Walk Of Fame comes just days after her powerful Critics Choice Award acceptance speech.
Davis’ star will be revealed on Jan. 5.
