Denzel Washington talks directing ‘Fences’ and making magic with Viola Davis

Denzel Washington says the story of Fences had been a long time coming. When he was first asked to consider the film years ago, he took a step back and decided to do the play first.

Now, six years later, he explains the journey to becoming director and how co-stars like Viola Davis make doing his job so much better.
