Don Lemon has taken both the media and Donald Trump to task when it comes to his tweets and his shunning of the media.

While talking with the Washington Examiner’s David Drucker, Lemon pointed out that the President-elect has not held a press conference since the end of July. Lemon feels that Trump goes around the media by using Twitter.

When Drucker said that perhaps Trump feels he can get away with avoiding the media because voters don’t trust the press and will let him get away with it, Lemon did not let that stand.

“Can I say something?” Lemon interjected. “That’s the whole point. That’s the strategy. He can’t sit down with the media because then he legitimizes the media which he rallies or rails so much against.”

The conversation then turned to the media’s responsibility and how there is a large percentage of Americans who want the press to hold Donald Trump accountable for his actions and his words. He went on to say that the new POTUS does in fact need the media more than the media needs him.

“Listen, I’m not a news executive,” Lemon remarked. “But if I were, I would say I would not cover his tweets.”
